Benetton and Sears Mexico have signed an agreement to expand United Colours of Benetton in Mexico. The Group will significantly extend its presence in Mexico with a total of 250 points of sale in both Sears Mexico department stores and new stores by 2010.Under the agreement, points of sale offering fashion and accessories of the UCB collections for women, men and children, will open in Sears department stores across Mexico. With the parallel opening of 50 new UCB stores, Benetton Group will reach a total of around 250 retail outlets in just three years, decisively expanding its presence in the country. (more…)

This week, Milan saw the launch of the first United Colors of Benetton temporary store and a preview of the children collections for AW08. Luciano and Alessandro Benetton, respectively chairman and executive deputy chairman of Benetton Group, inaugurated the temporary store, which is entirely dedicated to children and mothers. The store will be open for two months and will introduce an exclusive preview of the AW08 collection.

The first quarter results of fashion brand Benneton went up with 3,4% to 465 million. Its net income rises to 29 million euro with +8.6%. So far the fashion group’s results are in line with their full year forecast. The growth of the first quarter was influenced by new delivery schedules for the spring and summer collections, developed to take advantage of new business opportunities in a market in which styles and trends change ever more quickly. Unfortunately, due to the conversion of some USA stores from wholesale to retail to redefine the presence of its brands, a the lack of spring/summer invoicing influenced Benneton’s first Q. (more…)

Benetton Group announces its intention to launch the programme for shares buy-back on the terms and conditions authorized by the shareholders’ meeting resolution of 24 April 2008 and in accordance with the Board of Directors’ resolution of the same date.As already announced to the stock market, purchase of treasury shares may be made up to a maximum of 18,000,000 ordinary shares and, in any case, not exceeding 10% of the share capital.
